Now this was our last day in Vegas and one of the first things we had to do in the morning was to go to ‘In and Out’ burger for my buddy Brandon as he had never had one and was destined to eat there before their flight later in the day. So in the morning we packed them up and got on the road and grabbed the fast food on the way to the airport. We ended up dropping them off at 3:30 pm and headed back to the hotel. This was bittersweet saying goodbye to our travel partners at this time but this gave us the rest of the day to do what we wanted and we kind of felt like we had a burden lifted off of us as we were no longer tour guides.
At this point we ended up going to Bass Pro shops to spend a gift card I had received from the timeshare presentation and to return the stove that broke I mentioned earlier on a blog post. Thankfully, We received full credit and ended up buying each other new shoes, as the shoes we had to hike with were absolutely ruined from the Subway hike (due to water submerging) and the previous 20 days of hiking.
We decided to empty out the cooler (old food) and return used oil (from our change at Cedar Breaks) to AutoZone. All in all we probably emptied about 100 pounds of unnecessary items from the car, such as trash, clothes, unneeded food, and luggage. We also stopped at the bank to catch up on all credit card payments as I had to reconcile all the expenses that I put on a credit card during the time we were with them and then split it three ways to have them pay me back. Though I had to do the accounting, I liked being in control and overall we all had a great time. It was an absolute amazing section of this road trip but it was nice to be on a fast pace again.
Ashley had never seen a Vegas show, though we had been here before, so we decided to see Ka by Cirque du Soleil at the MGM Grand. Ashley’s favorite dish is Beef Wellington and when we were in Vegas last time we did not get the opportunity to try a world famous recipe at Gordon Ramsay steak. So finally we were able to get reservations and sit at the bar and enjoy this. It was very good and we enjoyed it however it was not as good as we had anticipated. This was about a $130 dinner after drinks and appetizers.
After this we headed to the show. The Ka theater is one of the most spectacular stages in Vegas though I don’t think the show is the best. Nonetheless it was very entertaining as acrobats and the storyline were very unique. However two beers did run us $32!
We decided to go to one more place for a drink in the Coyote Ugly lounge of the New York New York hotel where we were staying. This hotel featured an incredible interior displaying all sorts of aspects to the famous city such as Greenwich village and the Eastside.
When we went to the room we decided to clean some clothes for the road. Considering we just spent $330 on the night you would think we would have a little bit money to spend on laundry but in order to save money we decided to wash clothes in the bathtub. We rinsed them by hand and then hung them to dry by the morning. By the time morning came there were a few pieces still wet, but there is a story for this in the next blog post!
