Today was a very odd day for me, as Ashley was in surgery, and the whole trip and my world seemed to be in disarray. At this point the trip became second nature, as I waiting in the holding room sleeping to get a result for Ashley. She had been diagnosed with a twisted intestine and she needed to have surgery the night before thus by mid morning the process was done and I was able to enter into the room and see her. I was glad to see and hear that things were good and she wasn’t in a critical position. She was now relaxing and spending the rest of the next couple days in the hospital bed. She was still determined to do the trip but the details were still up in the air since we had to cut a few things out due to her being there for two more days.
I decided to go out that morning and get breakfast by myself, and bring her anything back she wanted, such as ice cream, or liquids they allowed. I decided to explore the area around the hospital. I went to the church across the street (as we were very close to knob hill) and then ventured down into china town. I didn’t really do much outside of just sight saw, since the budget was close and we didn’t want to over spend (even though the hospital bill for her was over 70k$! Thank goodness for insurance right?!
Nonetheless, the days were uneventful, but I will say that they did have a piano in the hospital lobby, and guess what I did considering I was a professional pianist for a living? Yes, I performed for about two hours in the lobby for patients, and new comers, and overall they seemed to enjoy it. It was a great way for me to kill time no doubt!
