After staying at the AIR BNB in Victoria, we were up early after being able to do our laundry last night. This day included us exploring the city of Vancouver, and heading into the USA again. We stopped at a pot shop for Ashley and her pain, and she enjoyed being able to smoke weed downstairs in a COFFEE shop. During this time Canada only allowed you to smoke it but not buy it (oddly enough), so we had to go to a secret place to buy this and then go downstairs in this shop to smoke it. This was after of course our breakfast in the hotel.
In this morning time we were able to walk the city and check out the main park of Vancouver. This park is called Stanley Park and there are great Indian sculptures to explore as well as scenic views of the city and bay. Vancouver itself is a beautiful city situated on the waters of the Pacific west in a harbor surrounded by somewhat dramatic mountains. I particularly enjoyed the scenery here.
The city itself is expensive for people who are on a budget such as myself and Ashley today. We split a snack in the morning at a crepery in the city, and enjoyed a scenic walk around downtown. This was the extent of our exploration of this city before we arrived at Steamworks Brewery for lunch. We enjoyed a few beers and two meals before we were to get on the road again. We were able to get out of Vancouver for less than $100 (which is a success in its own right), and then head back into the USA.
After crossing the border we decided to find a campsite close to our next stop the next day, North Cascades National Park. We found a nice campsite just outside the park after about a two hour drive. After setting up we met people who were camping and hanged out with them all night around the fire telling of our stories and good times through the trip. They were allot of fun and hospitable giving us hot chocolate around the fire. The campsite was cheap but because we met these people we were distracted from paying and the camp rager almost gave us a ticket for not paying until I realized what he was doing! Overall a good day to be out of canada and to continue our exploring of the wonders of the USA.
